The strawberry moon shines bright tonight
lighting the path for summer's sojourns.
New adventures around every bend
await our curiosity as we set out to explore.
What is new today to see, to know, to become?
Old memories of camping, canoeing
and midnight campfires ignite my senses -
Charred hot dogs, sore shoulders,
the ten thousand "re-deeps" of bellowing frogs...
the lingering stickiness of toasted marshmallows.
Summer is here and I want to be fully present
in these days and in our travels.
I want to engage and reflect,
to share and to give
and receive the gift of today.
